At Louise's salon, I set up all three cameras around the three-mirrored room.  I handed both Louise and Kate a white buttoned-up, long-sleeved blouse.  I handed Louise a royal blue tie, the same color as the cape that was used later during the hair singeing.  (The hair singeing was done with a candle flame held close to the wound hair to burn off the split ends.)  I wore a black tie and similar blouse.  Everyone wore a black skirt as well, all blouses tucked in (as that looks much neater).

I was able to tie my own tie, but I couldn't tie Lousie's.  Kate, who has more experience than either of us, did Louise's tie.  (I'm not sure if I got this on tape or not, as this was during pre-production -- I think the cameras *might* have been on, but we were still discussing how to do the scene).

Anyway, for this film, Kate (the blonde from the Caped Women Going Wild video) walked into the salon and sat in the chair.  Before Louise could work on her hair, Louise handed her a tie and said that she'd need to be properly dressed to be serviced in this salon.  Kate put on a matching royal blue tie, the same as Louise's.  The cape was put on her, the candle was lit, and the hair singeing process began.

Afterwards, Kate's hair was shampooed to remove any burn fallen hairs.  Louise brushed her hair as she dried it with a hair dryer.  Then she twisted and knotted the hair up after putting in setting lotion.  Then the hair dryer was lowered from the ceiling over her head.  (Sorry, no hair nets or ear covers were used.  She doesn't have any, and I didn't think to bring them until this moment.  Here the Homer Simpsons "D'oh!" here.)

The dryer was removed, the blue cape was removed, a black PVC comb-out cape taking its place, and dramatic makeup applied.  Then Louise brushed out Kate's hair, puffing it, resulting in a beautiful wave.  Kate's gasped, "I didn't know I had so much hair!"

When her new look is finished, I hand her a red wool tie, telling her that this tie would suit her new look much better.  And it did!  My gosh, Kate looked just gorgeous in the makeup, hairstyle, and the red tie with her outfit (black pantyhose and black high heeled boots too).

We filmed her being spun in the chair, from toe to head, and her walking out as well.

As promised, here's a before photo of Kate:

Now, here are several afters:  (remember, clicking on the photo will make it larger)

Here's a photo of Louise:

Now a few of me:

Feel free to post these photos where ever you please, but *please* do not alter the photos in anyway.  I've seen a few photos of me where my face had been removed and someone else's face added; that makes me sad, so please be nice.

Now for the wet station.  This was just installed on Friday.  I have to cut the legs of the mirror so that the mirror can rest on top without hitting the pipes.  Once the mirror is up there, I will be rearranging things.  This station is not as spacious as my last one.  :(

I still need to find hinges for the cover.  And I'd like new handles as well.  I'm having trouble locating them.  I was told I *might* find what I need in a specialty shop.  I'll try to visit one sometime next week or so.

After the video shoot today, I brought two cameras in to be cleaned.  But only one is going to be cleaned.  The other, I was told, needed to be sent to Canon directly.  I am not very happy with the guy who sold me this camera as it has more problems than he said it had (actually he had me believe that there was nothing wrong with the camera.)  So lesson learned?  Always buy camera gear new.  :)

This hair singeing video *may* be available in January or February.  Currently I'm about an hour into the afro perm.  I *want* to have this video done by the end of next week, or at least by the end of this month.

What I hope to do soon, is write a list of everyone who wants to help with my future video shoots (handling the camera, helping to ask the model questions, keeping an eye on continuality, etc).  I know some people only prefer to help with perm shoots or haircutting shoots and etc, so I'll devise a list so everyone is happy.

One last thing before I end for today, a big thank you goes to John for helping to purchase the outfits used in this video.  And thank you for the ideas too.  I hope you'll enjoy your creation come to life!

Re: email sent again
I got this email, thank you. I did ask her some questions such as if she goes to the salon/barbershop. Shortest/longest hair that she had. Some other questions I didn't ask her because she talked about them already such as how often she gets her hair cut and her experience with ties. I forgot to ask her about how she felt wearing the tie and blouse, I'm sorry (she told me off camera that she loved it and thought she looks stunning like this). Next time for future videos, I'm going to make sure that I have an assistant to help make sure all questions get asked and etc. (Those in the Mpls area who'd like to help, just email me.)

Since my cameras are being repaired/cleaned, I won't be able to download this footage for awhile. Also, I still have tons of footage on my computer so I wouldn't be able to download if I wanted to at the moment. I should be able to get to this video in January. I'm keeping all the blouses and ties for future videos. :)

the video
Kat you did extremely well i thought so missing out a question is understandable . Im STUNNED that kate liked the shirt and tie look thats great how i wish you had got that on camera. I hoped you enjoyed dressing up yourself you looked superb a nice resonable stiff collar too. I orginally had thought about putting a small note in with the parcel with maybe $20 to give to kate to thank her too for doing the video too she seems to enjoy doing them but i never got around to it. Then when you decided to wear a tie too i was delighted so thought id help out sending you the bit extra. Does kate know someone had suggested the shirt and tie idea ? and if i wanted to send a thankyou note would you be able to pass it on. I thought the contact the model part you had on the site was a good idea but sadly it seems some fool has probably spoiled it hence the reason you took it off.Im glad you maybe gonna use the shirt and tie look again for more videos.

Re: the video
Actually, I did double her modeling fee since she drove three hours to get to the shoot. And I paid Louise a bit extra as well. (I'm in the Christmas spirit, what can I say? *smile*)

I really liked how I looked in a blouse and tie. Even one of the kids whom I was watching said, "You look cute in that outfit." lol, awwww.....

So I'll probably wear blouses and ties in my future videos (unless someone else requests something different and I do try to get to all requests).

I told no one that the blouse and tie was a request. I just tell the model/stylist/barber that that's how it's going to be, and that's that. :)

The "contact our models" page has been removed because a few people spoiled it. One model said, "I like the idea of fan mail, but do they have to be so creepy?" After getting that email, I deleted the page. I had some complaints from models earlier, but that ended it.

So, I'm sorry, I won't be able to pass along anything to Kate. I think she knows about my blog; she knows my website, and I'm sure if she reads this, she'll appreciate your thoughtfulness.

She did on camera say that she likes the look, so no fear! :) She also said it again off camera while I was packing up my gear. :D
